Open Access Procedures
There is a very strict criteria for Open Access admissions, and a phone triage interview is required, as you will not have a pre-procedure consultation with a Gastroenterologist.
Open Access is designed specifically for patients who require colonscopy or endoscopy for specific reasons as detailed by your GP:
- Asymptomatic individuals with positive faecal occult blood tests results eg, National Bowel Cancer Screening, Rotary Screening etc
- Asymptomatic individuals with a family history of bowel cancer.
- Patients with stable oesophageal reflux who require screening for Barretts Oesophagus.
- Patients who are otherwise fit and well, aged between 16 to 80 And BMI > 45 would be only scoped after approval from the proceduralist and the Anaesthesist
